As I run with Linux Mint, I would be curious to know, how FB loads and configures (non core windows fonts) True Type fonts? If 'ttfs' cannot be used how else can FB use fonts?

well if you are talking about the fonts of TrueType in a graphical screen FB needs to use an external library such as FBTrueType lib. https://www.freebasic.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25083 I used then in my games and it's a very good library to use...
